Metodo
Analisi retrospettiva dei dati raccolti nei centri traumatologici in Arizona, California, Ohio, Oregon, New Jersey e Texas tra il 2006 e il 2018. La percentuale di pazienti risultati positivi per la marijuana tetraidrocannabinolo (THC) è stata confrontata con la percentuale di pazienti che guidano sotto l’influenza di alcol (livello di alcol nel sangue> 0,08 g / dL) coinvolti in un MVC.
Risultati
I dati sono stati analizzati per valutare le tendenze nel consumo di THC e alcol nelle vittime di MVC, legate alla legalizzazione della marijuana.
Questa la variazione nell’incidenza del rilevamento di THC (%) nel periodo di tempo in cui i dati erano disponibili: Arizona 9,5% (da 0,4 a 9,9), California 5,4% (da 20,8 a 26,2), Ohio 5,9% (da 6,7 a 12,6), Oregon 3% (da 3,0 a 6,0), New Jersey 2,3% (da 2,7 a 5,0) e Texas 15,3% (da 3,0 a 18,3). Il consumo di alcol non è cambiato nel tempo nella maggior parte degli Stati. Non sembrava esserci una relazione tra la legalizzazione della marijuana e la probabilità di trovare THC nei pazienti ricoverati dopo MVC. In Texas, dove la marijuana è illegale, c’è stato il più grande cambiamento nel rilevamento del THC.
Conclusioni
Non c’è stato alcun aumento apparente nell’incidenza della guida sotto l’influenza della marijuana dopo la legalizzazione. Inoltre, i cambiamenti nella legislazione sulla marijuana non sembrano avere un impatto sull’uso di alcol.
