Il governo thailandese sta promuovendo la coltivazione della cannabis come fonte di reddito per gli agricoltori locali. In questo modo, il paese continua ad avanzare verso la piena legalizzazione.
Secondo Reuters , l’alto funzionario del governo thailandese ha iniziato a promuovere l’uso della cannabis come coltura commerciale per gli agricoltori del paese. Il vice portavoce del governo Traisulee Traisoranakul ha osservato: “Tutti hanno il diritto di coltivare marijuana collaborando con ospedali provinciali per uso medico”.
“Ci auguriamo che la cannabis e la canapa costituiscano la principale coltura redditizia per gli agricoltori”.
In Thailandia, la cannabis medicinale è legale dal 2018 , rendendolo il primo paese del sud-est asiatico a passare alla legalizzazione. Il che è notevole per una regione con alcune delle leggi sulla droga più dure al mondo.
Successivamente, nel 2020, sono stati compiuti progressi nella regolazione della cannabis eliminando parti della pianta, come steli, fibre, rami, radici ed estratti della pianta che contengono cannabidiolo e meno dello 0,2% del componente dalla lista dei narcotici THC psicoattivo . Un progresso che ha facilitato lo sviluppo di un’azienda agricola di cannabis.
“Ci auguriamo che la cannabis e la canapa costituiscano un importante raccolto per gli agricoltori”, ha detto la vice portavoce del governo thailandese.
Dall’entrata in vigore della nuova legge in Thailandia, un totale di 2.500 famiglie e 251 ospedali provinciali hanno coltivato quasi 15.000 piante di cannabis secondo il percorso regolamentato. Cioè, tutte le persone che coltivano cannabis nelle loro case e quelle che coltivano colture su larga scala, devono soddisfare determinati criteri medici, oltre ai rispettivi permessi governativi.
Oltre alle partnership con gli ospedali, le altre entità che possono richiedere le licenze per coltivare cannabis includono università, professionisti medici, professionisti della medicina tradizionale e aziende della comunità, secondo la legge emanata lo scorso anno. Può essere utilizzato anche negli alimenti e nelle bevande dei ristoranti, purché provenga da un produttore approvato dalle autorità.
