La qualità dell’acqua è uno dei fattori più determinanti quando si tratta di coltivare cannabis. Molti dei problemi che possono sorgere lungo il raccolto sono direttamente correlati all’acqua. Ed è un particolare a cui molti coltivatori non danno l’importanza che merita.
Ogni acqua è differente. Queste variazioni sono principalmente dovute alla sua composizione.
Per durezza dell’acqua si intende un valore che esprime il contenuto totale di ioni di calcio e magnesio, dovuti alla presenza di sali solubili nell’acqua, e di eventuali metalli pesanti presenti.
Se recuperiamo acqua da fiumi o ruscelli, la durezza dell’acqua indica quindi anche il tipo di terreno che abbiamo a disposizione. Le zone d’acqua dura sono terreni che assimilano sostanze nutritive peggiori perché hanno un alto contenuto di sali di calcio. Le aree di acqua dolce tendono a mancare di questi due nutrienti fondamentali.
ACQUA DURA E DOLCE
La sua durezza si riferisce esclusivamente alla quantità di sali di calcio e magnesio che contiene. Come abbiamo detto, ciò è dovuto alla composizione del suolo da cui proviene l’acqua in origine.
Si definisce acqua dolce o molto dolce quando il contenuto di sali di calcio e magnesio è inferiore a una CE o elettroconduttività di 0,4 millisiemens x cm2.
Al contrario, un’acqua dura o molto dura ha una grande quantità di sali di calcio e magnesio, sopra 0,4 mS / cm2.
Ad esempio per un’acqua dolce possiamo aggiungere fertilizzanti e aumentare la CE, ma non la sua durezza.
Sia il calcio che il magnesio sono due nutrienti essenziali per lo sviluppo delle piante. Dopo l’azoto, il fosforo e il potassio, noti come macronutrienti, sono i due elementi che le piante richiedono in quantità maggiori.
Ma come abbiamo visto ci sono enormi variazioni possibili a seconda dell’acqua, e così i produttori di fertilizzanti di solito non includono le quantità richieste nelle loro formulazioni. Se introducessero questo concetto dovrebbero costringere il coltivatore a usare una base d’acqua con una certa durezza. Ma, seppur sia facile recuperare una carenza di Ca e Mg, diviene più complicato correggerne un eccesso.

Questo è il miglior scenario possibile per un coltivatore. L’opzione è usare mononutrienti che includono ciascuno di essi, o un supplemento che include entrambi.
Idealmente il meglio è aggiungere tre volte più calcio del magnesio fino a raggiungere una EC di 0,4 per ogni irrigazione.
Quando vengono utilizzati fertilizzanti disciolti, ugualmente una volta raggiunto un EC di 0.4 aggiungeremo le dosi corrispondenti di fertilizzanti.
COSA FARE SE AVETE UN’ACQUA DURA
Questo tipo di acqua di solito porta molti problemi ai coltivatori.
Le quantità di calcio, specialmente molto alte, causano principalmente blocchi alle radici a causa dell’accumulo di sali.
La soluzione è ridurre questa durezza aggiungendo all’acqua dura del “componente dolce”. Potrebbe essere utilizzata qualsiasi osmosi, mineralizzazione distillata o debole.
Quando riusciremo a ridurre la sua durezza a un EC di massimo 0,4, avremo un liquido perfetto per la coltivazione.
